MLA held for suicide bid near PM’s house
A Samajwadi Party MLA from Madhya Pradesh was detained on Friday outside the residence of the Prime Minister when he threatened to kill himself.
A Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA from Madhya Pradesh was detained on Friday outside the residence of the Prime Minister when he threatened to kill himself.

He was demanding a separate state of Vidarbha and threatened to immolate himself if his demands were not met.
Kishore Samrite (35), Samajwadi Party MLA from Langi constituency in Madhya Pradesh, was last month criticised by several animal rights group.
He had sacrificed goats at Kamakhya Devi temple in Assam after the UPA government won the trust motion vote.
On Friday, the MLA was with his personal assistant and Personal Security Officer (PCO) when the police detained him.
He was detained near Samrat Hotel in Chankyapuri, while he was on his way to the Prime Minister's residence around 11:30 am on Friday.
“I want four districts of MP — Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara and Betul — to be merged in Vidharbha because a majority of people in these districts speak Marathi and follow Maharashtrian culture,” Samrite said.
The MLA had sent a letter to the police about a week ago threatening to commit self- immolation in front of the PM’s residence on Independence Day.
Police said no case was registered against the MLA and he was later released. Police denied the MLA was carrying any inflammable material.
