MPs’ drivers caught drunk at the wheel

You plan to party till late and rely on the driver to take you home safely, just in case you have had one too many. But beware! Your driver might have had his share of booze, putting you in trouble as was evident on Friday night.
Drivers of two Members of Parliament and those of several high-ranking Railway officials were booked for taking to wheels after drinking during a special drive by Delhi Traffic Police at India Gate.
Drivers of Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur in UP, Jayaprada, and RJD MP from Kishangarh in Bihar, Taslimuddin, were found drunk during the checking that continued till 2 a.m., sources said. However, neither the MPs nor any of their family members were traveling in the cars, sources said. They added that the police impounded the RJD MP’s official car and SP MP’s Pajero and the drivers booked.
In case of vehicles of high-ranking Railway officials, it was found that the officers were not aware that their drivers were drunk. More than 450 vehicles were screened during the drive. A total of 47 persons were booked for drunk driving. “People should not only check the driving skills but also watch drinking habits before hirind drivers,” DCP Traffic (New Delhi Range) Suvashish Chaudhary observed.
