NCR residents can get Aadhar card in Delhi

Senior revenue department officials said a large number from people NCR are flocking to Delhi to get enroled and confirmed that residential address is no bar for someone to get his/her Aadhar card, as long as one has valid documents.

"We are not stopping anyone. You can apply for Aadhaar number from anywhere in the country. But ensure that you apply just once else your second application will automatically get cancelled. Even if you are not a resident of Delhi, you can still enrol here," Delhi's principal secretary (revenue) Dharam Pal said.

With several government agencies including banks, passport office, sub-registrar office and gas agencies making it mandatory for new applicants to furnish Aadhaar number, the queue at the enrolment centres is only getting longer.

"We get cases where residents of other states come to us to register sale deed of the property they just have bought in Delhi. Since Aadhar number is a must for them, we tell them to enrol at our special camps at the sub-registrar office and submit the enrolment number," Pal said.
