Raising the issue during the zero hour, Congress MP from Inner Manipur, Thockhom Meinya said there has been a spurt in incidents of attacks on northeast students.

"Richard Loitam, a student of architecture, was found murdered in his hostel room in Bangalore. Another student from Amity committed suicide after being expelled by the authorities. A boy from Manipur was beaten," said Meinya.

He said the students from northeast were feeling alienated in their own country.

"I appeal to the home minister to look into the issues and order a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the killing," he added.

Loitam, a second semester student of the Acharya School of Architecture in north Bangalore, was found dead in his hostel room under mysterious circumstances on April 18.
