Nexus of fun and music at DU

On Friday, things got even hotter, as Beedi Jalaile man Sukhwinder Singh rolled out almost his entire Greatest Hits selection: from Saki saki to Dard-e-disco, Kisna to Sab to sharaab peete hain.

It was clearly the greatest music show DU had ever seen: 50,000 young people singing, dancing, swaying, jumping, screaming their lungs out, as Bombay Vikings and Kailasa, Kailash Kher and his band, set North Campus’ polo grounds on fire.

That was on Thursday, Day 2 of the three-day HT Youth Nexus, the cool music festival that is part of Hindustan Times’ hot I Love Delhi campaign.

In its sixth year now, the mother of all college festivals was bigger than ever before. A rolling crowd of over a lakh packed the venue for three consecutive evenings that saw a mindblowing range of popular modern music genres played onstage. Apart from Kailash Kher and Sukhwinder, there were crooners Shibani Kashyap and Krishna, and rockers Parikrama, Pentagram and Them Clones.

“I’d heard so much about Youth Nexus, we simply had to come check it out,” said Noopur Tikku, final year Eco (H) at LSR. Ex-DUite Neeti Vaid had come with some exchange students because she thought Youth Nexus was the best place to feel the pulse of Delhi's young people. “All we had heard is true. This is a great place to be at,” she said.
