Nithari: Apex court raps up Police for not filing case

The Supreme Court on Monday pulled up the Uttar Pradesh Police for not registering a criminal case on a complaint filed by Jatin Sarkar, who had alleged that the CBI was pressurising him to favour Moninder Singh Pandher, the main accused in the Nithari killings case, reports Satya Prakash.

Sarkar's daughter Pinki was allegedly killed in Nithari and he was a key witness in the case. Later, he was found dead in Murshidabad, West Bengal, under mysterious circumstances.

“Why did you not register an FIR on the complaint?” a bench of Justice B.N. Agrawal and Justice G.S. Singhvi asked during hearing of a petition filed by Jatin’s wife Bandana Sarkar.

“It involves murder of a person who had intimated the police about it in advance…and ultimately the man was done away with,” the bench remarked asking the police to file their reply within four weeks.

Bandana’s daughter Pinki was allegedly raped and murdered by Pandher and his servant Surinder Singh Koli.

She had moved the Supreme Court claiming that her husband was murdered because he was in possession of the “confessional” statements of Pandher.
