Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni told the Rajya Sabha: “The Survey of India conducted geodetic survey of Qutub Minar in 2005 at the behest of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to study its verticality. In its report submitted last year, the Survey of India has not concluded any tilt with certainty due to lack of high frequency data.”

She said that “it has recommended to carry out geodetic observations every year so as to keep vigil on the stability of the monument”.

The minister said the ASI, which protects and conserves historical monuments, is taking all measures to ensure that no damage is caused to the structure.

The complex is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Delhi.
