"It is not possible for FCI to open the centres throughout India. We have no machinery. And this job is done by the states and FCI provides whatever fund is required by the states," agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha.

He said throughout India the procurement is done by some cooperative agency of the states.

In reply to a separate question, minister of state for housing and urban poverty alleviation Saugata Roy said the Government was open to receiving suggestions on the proposed National Urban Livelihood Mission and requested members to share their views on the matter.
