They can take the Delhi Metro up to the Vishwavidyalaya Station and hire a cycle to reach their college for just Rs 10.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) started the cycle rent system on Wednesday for the first time from the Vishwavidyalaya Station on an experimental basis. This concept would be replicated at other stations depending on its popularity. Cycles would be available for Rs 10 for four hours. Users will have to deposit a photo I-card as security.
The facility will be available from 6 am to 11 pm. Cycles will be available with imported 'Shelmets' (helmets). "Though the scheme is being tried out by the Metro for the first time, the concept is popular abroad," said DMRC spokesman Anuj Dayal.
The cycle stand, which cost Rs 1.6 lakh, is behind the bus stop outside the Metro station near gate number four.
