“Farukh Siar was coming from Hong Kong by Air India flight-317. He was intercepted and his air conditioner was put through the X-ray scanner. The officers noticed some gaps in the metal box. On unscrewing the AC, seven cameras, along with accessories, were recovered,” said Ashutosh Baranwal, additional commissioner of Customs, IGIA. The department has also recovered original invoices of the cameras.
“Such presence of mind should be displayed round-the-clock by customs officials,” said V K Goel, commissioner of customs.
