The Delhi High Court on Wednesday called for a policy where involvement in a simple offence is not treated as a deterrent in government service.

The court said present situation was such that anyone booked for even overspeeding or parking in a non-parking area might not get a government job.
The court said so while dismissing an appeal by Delhi Government against a Central Administrative Tribunal order that wanted enrolment of 23-year-old Robin Singh as a Sub Inspector (Executive) with the Delhi Police.
Singh was involved in a brawl when he was 19 and was charged with voluntarily causing hurt and was later acquitted. He was denied a job on the grounds that he concealed the fact.
