Amar Nath, who had lost his job because he drank too much and began committing petty thefts, was arrested on Sunday from Rani Bagh area in north-west district.

Police arrested Nath after the boy, Anil, chased him and shouted for help.

“During sustained interrogation, Nath disclosed that he used to work as a plumber but for the past few months he had been jobless. He said he was an alcoholic, so he started committing thefts to sustain his drinking habit,” a police official said.
