Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said the government was looking forward to the Budget session of Parliament with "great expectation" and expressed hope that the House will function smoothly.

"We look forward to this session of Parliament with great expectation," Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told reporters in New Delhi.
Singh said he believed that all political parties want Parliament to function "effectively and smoothly" and on behalf of the government, he extended "fullest cooperation" in the smooth functioning of Parliament.
"Parliament is the forum where debate can take place. It will be our sincere desire that Parliament functions smoothly," he said.
The Parliament will be in session from tomorrow till August seven during which Railway and General Budget will be presented.
In the finance-centric session, the Railway Budget would be presented to the Lok Sabha on July three and the General Budget for 2009-10 on July six. The Economic Survey would be presented on the opening day on Thursday.
