"I met the prime minister. We discussed many issues," Rangarajan, at present a Rajya Sabha member, said when PTI contacted him.

He, however, did not elaborate on the discussions, which assume significance in view of upcoming meeting of the G-20 leaders in London on April 2.

The prime minister is expected to meet US President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the London Summit.

Singh also met Tharoor, who had held top positions in the UN.

Reports suggest that Tharoor, who was an aspirant for the UN Secretary General's post, is keen on contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Singh, who is recovering from a bypass surgery, also held discussions with the National Security Adviser MK Narayanan.
