PM undergoes eye surgery at AIIMS

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh undergoes surgery in the left eye for cataract removal at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday underwent surgery in the left eye for cataract removal at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

"The Prime Minister has since returned home. Doctors have said that he can resume his normal work from Monday," according to an official statement.

75-year-old Singh underwent "an intra-ocular lens implantation after a brief surgical procedure" this morning at the Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences at AIIMS, it said.
