Head Constable Kabool Chand who was patrolling the area rushed to the spot and found bodies all around. With the help of local residents he ferried the blast victims to hospital.

“After the dust settled, Kabool Chand made a call to the Police Control Room at 2.05pm. Before that no resident had called the police as there was complete confusion around,” said a senior police officer.

On Sunday Delhi Police conducted raids at several colonies, including Taimoor Nagar and Garhi areas in south Delhi — home to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and rounded up several people for questioning. At 20 Bangladeshis were detained.

Police said the blast was similar to the five explosions reported from Andheria Mor, Lado Sarai and IIT flyover since January.

‘I saw the bombers’

A local resident Ayesha Khan claimed she had a tiff with the two motorcyclists who reportedly dropped the packet containing the explosives at Mehrauli Sarai on Saturday.

“The two men were driving rashly. I told them schoolchildren were returning home. They told me if you have a problem why don’t you use an aeroplane to commute,” said Khan.
