"His actions, which caused mobilisation of NSG commandos and delay of several flights, cannot be taken lightly and also since the investigation of the case is at an initial stage he should not be granted bail as he may hamper and influence the witnesses," the prosecutor told Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Goel.

Senior advocate H S Phoolka, appearing for the CA, Jitendra Kumar Mohla, sought the release of accused on bail claiming that he was being made a scapegoat by the police.

He was a respectable citizen and has deep roots in the society, Phoolka said.

He also claimed that the term "hijack" was used "unintentionally" by the pilot of the Indigo (flight 6E334 from Goa to Delhi) which was overheard by the ATC.

After hearing detailed arguments on the bail plea, the court decided to fix tomorrow for its order.
