The mastermind of the kidnapping was Anshuman Dixit, a class XI student and uncle of the victim. “Kidnappers may have brainwashed my cousin to involve him in the kidnapping. I am still not able to digest that it was Anshuman who masterminded the kidnapping,” said Harish Kumar Sharma, father of the kidnapped child.

“On Tuesday afternoon around 4.30 pm my cousin Anshuman Dixit took my daughter downstairs to buy her ice cream. When they did not return till evening, I informed Sector 24 police around 8 pm,” said Sharma.

“On Wednesday morning, I got a ransom call demanding Rs.40 lakh for her release,” he added.

“Anshuman (18), Shiv Kumar (21), Sonu Kashyap (25), Dinesh Kumar (23) and Ridku (50) were arrested and Vanshika recovered from them,” said Senior Superintendent of Police AK Singh.
