"On the occassion of Dussehra, I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens," Patil said in a message.

"Dussehra symbolises the victory of good over evil. May this day bring peace, prosperity and happiness to the people of the nation," she added.

Extending greetings to the nation, Vice-President in his message said, "Dussehra celebrates the triumph of the forces of good over evil. The traditional festivities and rituals of Dussehra reaffirms our faith in the sublime and universal values in life and inspire us to strive towards a just, peaceful and harmonius society."

"Let us celebrate this festival in its true spirit to usher in peace, prosperity and happiness in our lives," Ansari added.
