One Manoj of Delhi had reserved seats in the sleeper class of Sampark Kranti Express for Sunday. But when he reached the station with his family members, the train was already jam packed and his seats (33-36) in S6 coach were already occupied. “Those who had occupied my seats, refused to vacate them. I sought help from the railway police but to no avail,” said Manoj.

SK Sharma, chief PRO, Northern Railway, however, said that this year they did not receive any complaints from passengers about unavailability of reserved seats. “We, however, did get complaints about policemen taking bribes for letting unreserved passengers board reserved compartments. We have probed into the matter and caught a number of such men,” he told HT.
