The shop owner, Deepak Jain, is in a serious condition in Apollo Hospital after being exposed to radiation.
"Fresh radiation was detected in a shop in the Mayapuri market. It is quite far off from the shop where radiation was detected last week," the official said.
Asked whether it was a lapse on the part of experts from the Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (BARC) who surveyed the area last week, he said that it was not. The official pointed out that the new source of radiation was at least 500 metres from the shop where the radiation was detected earlier.
Five persons were hospitalised on April 8, 2010 in Mayapuri market, West Delhi as a result of being exposed to radiation.
