According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city received 39.2 mm of rainfall from Tuesday till Wednesday morning.

"There was a cyclonic circulation over western Uttar Pradesh because of which there were rains in Delhi. But these can't be called pre-monsoon showers yet," an IMD official told IANS.

"The rains will continue for two-three days more," he added.

As a result of the downpour, the minimum temperature took a plunge of four degrees, bringing much needed respite from the scorching summer heat.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 37 degrees. Humidity was recorded at 70 percent.
