Retd cop held for murder

A retired Delhi Police sub-inspector was arrested from Loni, Ghaziabad for allegedly killing his daughter’s lover in December, 2010, police said on Thursday. Peeyush Khandelwal reports.

A retired Delhi Police sub-inspector was arrested from Loni, Ghaziabad for allegedly killing his daughter’s lover in December, 2010, police said on Thursday.

Police arrested Sugriv Tyagi on charges of murdering Naveen Aggarwal, 25, who was found dead a few steps away from Tyagi’s house at Giri Market area of Loni.

“After four months of investigation and conclusions based on post-mortem reports, we found that the girl’s father had shot Aggarwal dead from close range,” said SSP Raghubir Lal.

Previously, the police had reported the death as a suicide. Aggarwal had been shot with a 0.12 calibre countrymade pistol.

Tyagi is currently lodged in Dasna Prison on the alleged murder charges, police said.
