“Roads are no longer safe with everyone on a short fuse. Many persons have lost their dear ones to the rage of another,” Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau said.

Condemning the rise in aggressive road rage incidents, the judge said, “Keeping in view the recent rise in road rage, there should not only be imposition of heinous sections but a stricter punishment should be given to those who take laws into their hands.”

The court imposed a fine of Rs. 1 lakh on each of the convicts— Sukhvinder and Pradeep.

The incident dates to March 13, 2007, when a truck carrying its owner Jagbir, driver Harbir and helper Somvir hit the convicts’ vehicle.

In a fit of rage, the convicts started beating him with a stick and then stabbed him with a knife. Harbir and Somvir were injured while Jagbir succumbed to his injuries.
