Ten aldermen — nominated MCD members who are appointed by Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit — were also scheduled to take oath on Thursday but couldn't because of the sloganeering by both parties.

While the Congress councillors led by leader of opposition JK Sharma opposed the recent hike in toll tax, the BJP blamed Dikshit for choosing "wrong" people as aldermen.

After the meet was adjourned, as a token of protest, former mayor Farhad Suri from Congress held an unofficial swearing in ceremony.

"The Mayor did not maintain decorum and sided with her party," said Suri.
