The court, however, asked the Centre to respond to the PIL by July 4, the next date of hearing, and make it clear as to what was the criterion for nominating him. Chandhiok argued that the action had been exercised by the President of India, and the court cannot interfere in the matter.
Ram Gopal Singh Sisodia, a former MLA, had challenged the nomination on the ground that Sachin was not qualified for the nomination.
