Salary hike proposal not rejected: CM

The Delhi government on Tuesday clarified that the proposal for hiking the salaries of legislators and ministers, by almost 200%, has not been rejected by the Centre but some queries have been raised.

The Delhi government on Tuesday clarified that the proposal for hiking the salaries of legislators and ministers, by almost 200%, has not been rejected by the Centre but some queries have been raised.

Speaking to reporters, chief minister Sheila Dikshit said the central government had only raised some queries and a reply to them has already been sent.

Later, in a statement, the chief minister's office clarified that the central government has not turned down the legislative proposals.

Apart from the salary hike, the Delhi government had also sought to give 5,000 litres of water and 1,000 unit of power per month free of cost to each MLA.
