A bench headed by Justice Dalveer Bhandari appreciated the work done by the state government in immediately implementing the order.
Immediately after the Supreme Court order, Delhi Government increased the number of night shelters to 76, of which 76 are temporary. The government also distributed 1,300 blankets to the homeless.
On January 20, SC had ordered the NCT Government to make arrangements for basic amenities by 5 pm and give it adequate publicity to inform the intended beneficiaries about their location.
After perusing the report of the court-appointed panel, the bench had summoned Delhi Food Secretary Jayashree Raghuraman to explain the deaths of poor and homeless people in the city.
