Scam accused surrenders

An absconding accused in the 2008 R6.58 crore Provident Fund scam has surrendered before the special CBI court here, sources said.

An absconding accused in the 2008 R6.58 crore Provident Fund scam has surrendered before the special CBI court here, sources said.

"The accused, Lokesh Kumar, surrendered himself before special CBI court judge Shyam Lal on Monday. Lal has sent him to the district jail, where 70 other accused, allegedly involved in the scam have been lodged," court sources said.

Kumar, a court employee, was absconding and did not appear before the court in the last two years despite being summoned several times, the court sources added.

Earlier, six judges allegedly involved in the scam were granted bail by the court.
