Security man shoots self

A 30-year-old security personnel deputed as a guard at the residence of Union parliamentary affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle on Tuesday morning. HT reports.

A 30-year-old security personnel deputed as a guard at the residence of Union parliamentary affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place around 5.34am at Bansal’s 6, Ashoka Road residence. The man has been identified as Don Kuper, a constable of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) of Meghalaya Police.

According to a senior police officier, Kuper was taking a stroll in a park outside Bansal's house when he shot himself with his service INSAS rifle. He sustained gunshot injury in his abdomen and is recuperating at RML Hospital.
