Self-proclaimed ‘godman’ held for rape

A self-proclaimed ‘tantrik’ has been arrested by the south Delhi police for allegedly raping a married woman whose husband had approached him for a solution to his strained marital life.

A self-proclaimed ‘tantrik’ has been arrested by the south Delhi police for allegedly raping a married woman whose husband had approached him for a solution to his strained marital life.

The accused, identified as Hira Lal, was arrested on Tuesday by the South Campus police station after a complaint was lodged against him by the victim’s husband. The incident took place on Monday night at the victim’s house in Moti Bagh area.

Police said the victim was suffering from some health problems for the past few years because of which her married life was also disturbed. The victim’s husband met the tantrik and discussed the problems with him.

The ‘godman’ told him that his wife was under the influence of evil sprits. He told him that he would have to perform black magic at his house to get rid of the evil sprits and for that he would charge Rs. 1,200. The complainant was convinced and agreed to his plan. On Monday night, Hira Lal arrived at the victim’s house after which he raped her.
