The Cabinet Secretariat had sent the report to the sports ministry last week, along with PM Manmohan Singh’s instructions to have investigators look into clear cases of forgery, falsification, record creation and other irregularities brought out by the panel headed by VK Shunglu, right away.
In this context, the directive issued on the Prime Minister’s instructions had named Event Knowledge Services, a Swiss company contracted to advise on event planning, work force support and development of sports venues, for the investigation.
The Cabinet Secretariat has similarly sent relevant reports of the Shunglu committee to various ministries at the Centre and the Sheila Dikshit-led Delhi Government to enable them to take action on the report.
The Home Ministry last week asked the Delhi government and civic bodies that executed projects to respond to charges of favouritism and delays. “They have been given one month to put across their version along with supporting documents,” a government official said.
