Solar power for city
Electricity distributing companies (distcoms) will soon start producing solar power in order to augment Delhi's total generation figures.
Electricity distributing companies (distcoms) will soon start producing solar power in order to augment Delhi's total generation figures. Power Minister Dr AK Walia has asked the three distcoms to prepare action Plans on a pilot project on solar power generation.

"Distcoms will install solar power-generating appliances on rooftops and aid in the use of non-conventional energy sources," Walia told reporters after government's weekly power review meeting on Wednesday.
Distcom NDPL will install generating equipment on the rooftop of Chhatrasal Stadium, BYPL on the rooftop of the Delhi Secretariat and BRPL on the Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology, Dwarka.
In more good news for power consumers, the government has waived off Rs 2738 crore arrears from the pre-privatisation period. "The waived off amount will be reflected in electricity bills from next month onwards.
The amount is not at all being transferred to distcoms but is being waived off to provide benefit to the consumers, who are being harassed to make payment of old arrears," he said.
