The police said on April 20, one Kamla and her friend Vijay contacted the victim to go to Palwal to work at a house where a marriage ceremony was to take place for two days.

“The victim agreed to go with them and at Palwal, they handed her over to one Jeet Ram. The next day, Jeet called one person, later identified as Rajbir, a resident of Razapur village in Ghaziabad. After seeing the victim, Rajbir paid Rs 30,000 to Jeet Ram for marrying her,” a senior police officer said.

Jeet Ram, Kamla and Rajbir have been arrested. The police said on June 5, the victim’s son had filed a missing complaint at the Mangolpuri police station in Delhi. He also raised doubts on Kamla, after which she was picked up for questioning.

The victim told the police that she was held hostage at Rajbir’s house where he used to rape her. Charges of kidnapping and rape were added to the existing FIR.
