Sonia Gandhi, Shinde visit blast site in Bodh Gaya

Accompanied by Union home secretary Anil Goswami and other officials, the two are expected to also meet the injured monks.

Four blasts took place inside the Mahabodhi temple complex and three at the Terega monastery, while one explosion each took place near an 80-feet-tall Buddha statue and a vacant tourist bus parked close to the temple complex.

The home minister is expected to hold a security review meeting with Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and other state government officials to assess the measures taken for the security of the temple complex.

The probe into the serial blasts was handed over to the NIA on Tuesday following a request from the Bihar government.

Investigators of the Bihar police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) are expected to brief Shinde about the progress of the probe.
