Sonia pitches in at Rae Bareli

With Rahul Gandhi providing muscle to the protesting farmers in Greater Noida, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi reinforced the party’s message by providing a positive comparison at the site of her dream project — the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Rae Bareli’s Lalganj.
On Wednesday, while on a two-day trip to her constituency, she took the initiative to discuss the compensation to farmers with the RCF officials.
She asked how much compensation had been paid and about the efforts made to pay the rest. The RCF chief administrative officer Alok Johri said nearly R31 crore had been paid to around 1,200 landowners.
“We are making efforts to pay compensation in about 35 cases,” said Johri. Of them, the RCF has been making efforts to reach 14 individuals through pradhans and advertisements in newspapers.
