Sordid end to an extramarital affair: nurse kills son, wife of lover

An officer investigating the case said the alleged murderer Sudesh Sharma was apparently having an affair with her neighbour, Manoj, for the past four years.

A nurse allegedly killed her own child and her lover’s wife in west Delhi on Thursday afternoon in what is believed to be the sordid end to an extramarital affair.

An officer investigating the case said the alleged murderer Sudesh Sharma was apparently having an affair with her neighbour, Manoj, for the past four years. Manoj’s wife, Reena, was aware of this and visited Sudesh at her Moti Nagar home to ask her to end the relationship.

It’s unclear who attacked first, but in the scuffle that ensued, Sudesh stabbed Reena, 44, several times. She then slit her three-year-old son Aarav’s throat. The police said Sudesh left a largely illegible note behind, saying that Aarav’s father was her lover, Manoj, and not her husband, Anil. This perhaps explains why she killed the boy. A police source also said that Sudesh had been asking Manoj to leave Reena and marry her for months but he had refused.

Sudesh is admitted at the AIIMS Trauma Centre with stab wounds. The police say she has admitted to the murders and may be arrested as soon as she is declared fit.
