Travelling to colleges in south Delhi for students is all set to be safer and easier. The Delhi University will soon launch a bus service connecting colleges like Lady Sri Ram, Gargi, Kamala Nehru and Institute of Home Economics to the nearest metro station in Hauz Khas.

A month after the murder of Radhika Tanwar, a student of Ram Lal Anand college, vice chancellor Dinesh Singh on Wednesday paid an impromptu visit to few south Delhi colleges—mostly girls colleges—to assess the security situation in and around the colleges.
Instead of meeting the principals, he interacted with the students and staff in canteens and outside the colleges. Feedback from the students suggested that commuting was a major issue.
“The aim of the visit was to get to know the issues affecting the students. The police are strongly recommending that there should be surveillance cameras in the college campus to increase vigilance. The university has decided to run a bus for these off-campus colleges,” said Singh.
The university had recently announced introduction of two buses connecting colleges such as Moti Lal Nehru, Ram Lal Anand, Venkateshwara, Jesus and Mary and Maitryee, which are situated near south campus.
The VC is also planning a similar visit to north campus colleges.
