Special cell seeks custody of Peerbhoy in Delhi blasts
Delhi police's Special cell has sought custody of alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Mohammed Mansoor Peerbhoy from the Mumbai police to establish his alleged role in the September 2008 serial blasts in the city.
A Special Cell team on Sunday reached Mumbai to procure Peerbhoy's transit custody from a city court there. Confirming this, special cell's Deputy Commissioner of police Alok Kumar said, “Peerbhoy is the one who had sent the IM terror email to media minutes before the Delhi blasts on September 13 last year.”
Peerbhoy's revelations are expected to give the Special Cell insights into the role of the blasts' alleged absconding IM plotters, Riyaz Bhatkal and his brother Iqbal, and Amir Reza Khan. Peerbhoy is a computer engineer.
