Pragati Maidan, the venue of the 14-day long fair to be inaugurated by the finance minister, has become a police district and special routes are being carved out to manage the traffic.

The venue will be under the hawkeye of 109 CCTVs and scanners will be placed at every entry gate. “We will ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the fair. Four fire- tenders will be stationed at the venue, apart from nine ambulances,” said Vikram Sehgal, general manager, security, ITPO. The India Trade Promotion Organisation, the organisers of the fair, expect a footfall of more than 15 lakh people. “This time, the theme is Indian Handicrafts — The Magic of Gifted Hands. This time, West Bengal and Jharkhand are partner states. Bihar and Orissa are focus states,” said Rajeev Kher, Chairperson, ITPO.

“The tickets to the trade fair will be available at all Metro stations and ITPO counters. The venue will be no smoking zone,” added Kher.

HoHo buses will ply from Pragati Maidan connecting ring road for the convenience of visitors. "For a comfortable trip, visitors should use the Metro. Parking will be allowed at certain places," said Sehgal.

To control the chaotic movement of visitors inside Pragati Maidan, the Delhi police are planning to implement a circulation plan. As per the plan the visitors won’t be allowed to jump from one counter to another and they have to follow a particular circulation pattern.
