The Lok Sabha was adjourned abruptly for the day as the opposition created uproar objecting to the consideration of the Banking Laws Amendment Bill.

The opposition contention is that the amendments proposed in the bill were not part of those studied by the Parliamentary standing committee on finance.

"Three new provisions have been added after the standing committee submitted its report. Now it has become a new bill," Yashwant Sinha, head of the committee said.

Refusing an explanation from the finance minister P Chidambaram, the Left and BJP members entered the well. After an initial adjournment of 20 minutes, the house was later adjourned for the day.

Earlier, the House approved an amendment bill to make recovery of bad loans easier for the banks. The passage of the bill also witnessed unruly scenes by the opposition.
