Education: Graduated from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University.

Political Career: Ratawal comes from a political family. His father was a RSS activist and a member of Jan Sangh. Ratwal contested the Assembly election on a BJP ticket in 1993. He won that year but lost the next election in 1998. He won again in 2003.

Family: Mrs Ratawal, Meera, is a housewife. They have one daughter, who is married, and three sons. Ratawal is passionate about travelling and loves to visit holy places whenever he gets time. “I have visited almost all pilgrim places — from Kanyakumari to Kashmir — in India. Every year I make it a point to go out twice with my family to visit a holy place,” he said.

Cars: Ratawal said he only has a Tata Indica.
