The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) began the survey last September and completed it a few days ago. It has submitted the proposals to Delhi traffic police for approval.

"This is the longest stretch that we have surveyed. The construction of the corridor will start as soon as we get a go-ahead from the traffic police. We are hoping for minimum congestions and diversions," said a senior DMRC official.

The DMRC had hired TPA Engineers Consultancy Pvt. Ltd for the survey.

The survey began on September 1 at the Bhikaji Cama Place-Shalimar Bagh section. Officials said the survey would help the DMRC control and divert heavy traffic on Ring Road during the construction.

"The proposed traffic diversion plans for Ring Road and Mandi House-Delhi Gate sections submitted by the DMRC seems logical and apt. We are studying both the proposals thoroughly and would give clearance possibly by the weekend," said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).

"Some dislocations are expected at Delhi Gate, ITO, Bhagwan Das Road and Mandi House during construction on the stretch connecting Mandi House and Delhi Gate, while jams may be seen in Ashok Vihar, Azadpur, Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Bhikaji Cama Place and Moti Bagh areas during the construction," Garg added.
