Days after the anti-corruption branch registered an FIR against him on charges of corruption, a junior engineer with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's building department (south zone) claimed that he had been falsely implicated in the case by a property dealer and two freelance reporters against whom he had lodged a police complaint in October last.

Mahesh Kumar, the junior engineer, said that he had lodged a complaint with the special cell of Delhi Police in which he alleged that the three were running an extortion racket.
In his complaint, Kumar alleged that the trio was threatening him of dire consequences and also demanding huge amounts of money claiming that they had conducted a sting operation on him.
When contacted, a senior special cell officer said that they would verify Kumar's claims.
