Talwar undergoes repair surgeries

Talwar sustained multiple injuries on face and hands, when Utsav Sharma (28), attacked him with a cleaver outside the special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ghaziabad on Tuesday.

First repair and reconstructive surgery was performed on his face and right hand on Tuesday, and the second surgery to repair his left hand was performed on Friday.

"There was a lot of blood loss during the first surgery, that's why doctors decided to defer the second surgery to repair his left hand. His left hand was operated on Friday, and he is recovering well," a family source told HT, requesting anonymity.

A multidisciplinary team of doctors at the hospital is treating Talwar.

"Rajesh Talwar is stable and continues to be managed by a multidisciplinary team of doctors," said a hospital statement.

"We have been told he would be discharged in a few days," said the source.

Aarushi (14), was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in her parents' Jalvayu Vihar apartment in Noida on May 16, 2008.
