His nomination to the college's governing body has been under judicial scrutiny.

The court dismissed a petition filed by a former member, Ajya P Singha, whose tenure was terminated and Quraishi replaced him.

Principal Valson Thampu had nominated Quraishi in July last year. Singha challenged his termination order before a single judge of the Delhi High Court. Singha had alleged he was illegally removed by Thampu and the chairman of the Supreme Council of the college before his tenure for three years was complete.

He said Quraishi's appointment was in violation of the college constitution. Singha approached the apex court after the high court on February 8 had allowed Quraishi to attend the meetings till a single judge decides the plea.
