Thick security cover envelopes Delhi
As many as 40 battalions of the police and paramilitary forces were deployed across the city on Saturday, HT reports.
In anticipation of a repeat of last week’s “lawlessness” on Delhi streets, a thick security blanket enveloped the Capital on Saturday which, according to police, will continue to be the case at least till the end of next week.

While highly-placed sources maintained a decision to review the imposition of Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the New Delhi district would follow, as many as 40 battalions of the police and paramilitary forces were deployed across the city on Saturday.
“This was done both in anticipation of a potential attempt by protesters to take to the streets of Raisina Hill as well as in view of Sunday's match between India and Pakistan at the Feroz Shah Kotla in north Delhi,” said an officer.
Police sources said that while deployment was most dense in central Delhi — where Rapid Action Force (RAF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were present — static locations, checkpoints and pickets were put up across spots near border areas as well.
“There will be similar deployment on Sunday and a meeting to review the arrangement will be made in the coming week,” the officer added.
