The mishap occurred on Thursday morning when a minor fell to death from the fourth floor of Jindal Hotel in Pahar Ganj area of central Delhi.
The boy was playing near an open window, a few inches away from the bedside. He unwittingly reached the window and fell to death while his parents were away, police said.
Police sources said the family had come to the city from Haridwar in Uttrakhand to catch a train for Bihar from the New Delhi railway station.
"We are ascertaining the culpability of the hotels owners in the accident. We are trying to find out if hotel owners have been negligent in not providing the window bars," a police official said.
However, police have not registered a case yet and the boy's body has been sent for an autopsy.
