Mohd Faisal (19) and Mohd Rizwan (21), along three others, had stolen two mobile phones from one Jaspreeet Singh on January 19 and were caught on camera installed at the eatery in Geeta Colony.
"This footage helped in busting the gang which used to sell the stolen phones in Nepal and in several parts of the country, including Jammu and Kashmir," IB Rani, deputy commissioner of police (East), said.
Police recovered 55 stolen mobile phones from the two accused who were operating for the past four years.
"Since the eatery had CCTV installed, the accused were identified on analysing the CCTV footage with the help of the complainant and photographs were developed," Rani said.
A trap was laid on January 21 at the same eatery Geeta Colony and they were identified and then arrested by the police later.
