Two more cases have been registered against Gandhi for making a hate speech targeting Muslims during an election rally in Pilibhit on March 6.

An FIR in this regard was filed against him on Tuesday.

The Election Commission has ordered the registration of a criminal case against Gandhi and he has reportedly applied for anticipatory bail.

Varun Gandhi also has to reply to the showcause notice issued to him by the Election Commission on March 20.

Gandhi has been facing all-round attack over his communal speeches, which he has called "doctored" and a "political conspiracy" to malign him.

An unapologetic Varun Gandhi has said on Wednesday that he was a "Gandhi, a Hindu and an Indian in equal measure."
